The MRTC: a perfect mix between tradition and conviviality

The Club’s main objective is to foster the love of the game. It also offers a number of activities and tools to improve our members’ level of play. To encourage participation at all levels of play, the Club employs a team of seasoned tennis pros who offer private lessons, interclub training, and round robins. The MRTC also runs a popular Junior Development Program where our Juniors are introduced to tennis through weekly lessons and summer camps.

The Club also organizes an array of competitive and social tournaments to keep the members engaged and meeting new challenges. Members may choose to participate in organized activities or simply enjoy matches with fellow members.

Houses Leagues

House leagues are organized in the evenings throughout the summer and offer a healthy mix of competitive and social tennis…a great way to meet fellow members and get new tennis partners!

Interclub Teams

Interclub Teams

The MRTC’s multiple men’s and women’s interclub teams compete against clubs throughout the Montreal area. There are many levels of play. Training is organized throughout the summer months to prepare the players.

Round Robins

Round Robins

Our pros run many round robins during different times of the day to accommodate players looking for play accompanied with great instruction. Round robins are a great way to meet other players.

Some of the fun member-run mixers include the Couples, Parent & Child, and the A-level / B-level tournaments (Mixed, Men’s and Women’s).

Tournaments

The Club tournaments are run throughout the summer season. Tournament categories include Handicaps, Veterans, and the Open and Divisional Club Championships to cap the season in August and September.

Lessons

Lessons

Our members love the improvement they see in their games through the private and semi-private lessons given by the seasoned pros at the MRTC. Members can schedule lessons on a weekly or one-off basis.

JUNIORS

The MRTC has a great Junior programme that attracts catering to young tennis enthusiasts. The objective of this programme is to encourage young people to improve their tennis while promoting the spirit of fair play and a sense of belonging to the club. Led by top pros, the MRTC has a host of junior clinics, camps, tournaments and outings that kids enjoy.

Catherine Leduc
Catherine was born and raised in Montreal. She had a stellar junior career being ranked 1st in Québec and top 5 in Canada. At the age of 18, she went on a scholarship to play NCAA division 1 College Tennis at Saint Mary’s College of California. She graduated in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in Sports and Recreation Management. Catherine competed on the professional circuit and reached a career high WTA ranking of 734 in the world, while traveling the world to play tournaments. Over the last few years, she has been coaching all levels of play and cannot wait to share with you all her tennis knowledge over the upcoming season.
Elena
Elena Semenova
Born and grew up in Minsk, Belarus. Started to play tennis at the age of 7, played for the Junior National team. Trained alongside with Max Mirnyi, Vladimir Voltchkov, Anna Smashnova by Arcadi Edelman who has been training USSR National team for two decades.

Graduated from Minsk State Linguistics University, BA in Linguistics. After graduation moved to US where for ten years played USTA tournaments and taught tennis at the clubs of Long Island and Connecticut. Since 2007 has been living in Montreal, working at Nun’s Island Tennis Club.

Maxime Rome-Gosselin
As a former sports-studies athlete, Maxime was part of the best provincial players as a junior. With over 18 years of coaching experience already, he has worked the past 6 years in Club Meds around the world. He has a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in physical education where he focused his academic work on mental preparation and stress management for competitive tennis players. During his last year at university, he was the recipient of the student-athlete merit of excellence. Maxime is highly motivated to share with you his energy and passion of tennis for either private or group lessons.
Philippe Courteau
Philippe comes from a tennis family and started playing for fun at the tender age of 3. As a junior, he was amongst the best in the province and in the country, with one national title. He played on the NCAA collegiate circuit in Division 2 for Lander University in South Carolina where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business. Philippe is currently completing the Tennis Canada “Club Pro 2” certification. He looks forward to sharing his passion for the game that gave him so much.
Laura Pola
Now based in Montreal, Laura has coached in countries such as the Maldives, France, Cambodia, Seychelles, and the USA over the last decade. She is a former multiple junior national Champion in Canada and was also ranked on the WTA. She played NCAA Division 1 college tennis at California State University, Fresno and went on to finish her Master’s degree in Marketing at St. Bonaventure University. Laura is now a certified coach (Level 2) in Canada and looks forward to her summer at the MRTC.
